The Diocese is committed to providing a workplace free of harassment, including sexual harassment, as well as harassment based on any protected characteristics. The Diocese will not tolerate harassment of employees by supervisors, co-workers or even a non-employee with whom the employee is involved through it employment.
Harassment includes verbal, physical, and visual conduct that creates an intimidating, offensive, or hostile working environment or that interferes with work performance. Some examples include racial slurs; ethnic jokes; posting of offensive statements, posters, or cartoons; or other similar conduct. Sexual harassment includes solicitation of sexual favors; unwelcome sexual advances, and/or other verbal, visual, or physical conduct of a sexual nature.
The Diocese prohibits any form of retaliation against any employee for reporting a violation of this policy, filing a complaint under this policy, or for assisting in a complaint investigation. However, if, after investigating any complaint, the Diocese determines that the complaint is frivolous and was not made in good faith or that an employee has provided false information regarding a complaint, disciplinary action may be taken against the individual who filed the complaint or who gave the false information, up to and including an unpaid suspension or termination.
